What a great article! I am a recent graduate college graduate, and I’m currently a part-time teacher here in the northeast. I find these articles very interesting, and I love the way you are able to analyze the importance of learning from the inside out, while still teaching the subject matter.
Although it is true that the majority of education is a process of understanding the concepts and learning the methods and tools, we can all learn to improve our understanding and skills while we are at it. And I mean all of it, not by just learning things, but by learning how to do things.
This is why it’s a good idea to have a teacher that you trust and who you can work with in your daily life. This could be a neighbor, your parent, a friend, even a random stranger on the internet.
I’d say it’s definitely a good idea to have a teacher that you trust as well, and you can work with in your daily life. For example, I’ve noticed that I feel more at ease when I’m working with a parent than when I’m working with a stranger that doesn’t know me well enough to tell me what to do. So I guess I owe it to myself to spend more time with parents than with strangers.
I was thinking about this too. I always felt bad for kids that were never taught to read from an early age. I think that this is what makes me so guilty when I hear people say they can’t read because they just have no clue what they’re doing. And I know they say these things because they want to be able to help their kids learn to read. But I think it would be great if there was a book of the day that had a few paragraphs about how to read.
With a little help from our friends at jaleel.org, there are a few sites dedicated to helping parents teach their children to read. They offer a ton of free downloadable lesson plans that are pretty good. Most of these sites have a section on “how to tell if your kid is ready to read” so you can see what works and what doesn’t.
I love the fact that these sites can be used to help young people find books and resources. Because so many young people today are being raised in a world in which the books they need are not available to them. So I really hope that there is a place for education in the digital age. The problem is that there are few places to go if you don’t have access to books. That’s why I really hope that this site is developed in the future.
The problem is that when you’re on the internet with your kids you never have access to a library or a bookshop. You just have to go to the online store for books, and you can find them for free. I don’t know how much more it would cost to make a book shop, but it would be a start.
I think that it would be more important for the books to be available in public libraries, and for teachers to be trained in the use of computers and the internet.
That sounds like a great idea, I would love to see a website that takes book buying and selling into account. I do like the idea of books being offered free of charge, but that doesnt solve the problem. Books are still something that are used for profit.
