While my kids are still in prison I’m going to be teaching some of the kids about prison. If you are a member of the class you are going to be teaching on, I hope you can tell your kids about the prison policy.
Hudson link is a great alternative to the typical prison-based educational program. Students who are enrolled in a prison-based program are generally held in a dorm with no access to educational materials. In a typical prison-based program, the students’ classes are taught by a teacher who is paid by the prison and who has a lot of flexibility in how she teaches. However, this policy is actually much worse.
First, it allows for a great deal of flexibility in the teacher. You could do anything from teaching your own students to a class you’ve taught before for free as long as you have a lot of students. If you want to have a class, you can have a teacher who is paid by the prison to teach your class.
This is one of the things that makes the Prison Education Partnership so interesting. The Partnership is a nationwide initiative by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to help inmates get off the streets and into prison. The Prison Education Partnership is funded by the Bureau of Prisons and is run by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, although a number of local and state BOP programs are also involved.
