I think that if you have a good idea about what you want to do with your life, you will be able to have that idea in your mind at least a couple years before you actually start work or school.
That’s true, but I think that it’s also true that it takes a lot of patience, persistence, and dedication to get to that point. It can take years and years and years to build up a skill set, a reputation, or a portfolio of work. I had no idea what I wanted to be when I was a teenager, but now I’m the guy with the cool new glasses and the hair that I like to wear it up.
The truth is that there is a lot of education that can be gained by just taking the time to study, read, and think. That is a hard concept to grasp at first. But having said that, I have found that having a solid education and understanding of the subject matter that you are working on in school, that you are studying, and that you are researching, is a big part of what is required to get the job done.
You can find tons of information on the internet, but that doesn’t mean that you should just go out and find it. We all take something called “unlving” very seriously. Unlving is the act of learning something new while staying current with the information you already know. You can get a decent unlving education by reading blogs and articles, listening to podcasts and podcasts, talking to former classmates and teachers, and even reading books and watching movies.
