At Trinidad’s school we try to instill a sense of pride in our students, as well as a love for learning. We do this every day through our motto: “We love learning. We hate being wrong.” There are no grades for us, for that matter; we just want our students to have the same joy we do.

By learning we can get our students to take a few days off to take their classes, but the teachers in our classes are not that good at it, and they don’t give us much of a clue. We do try and teach our students how to make their lives better by having them get a few days off to take their classes. We don’t even give them a lot of time off to get things done.

In our very first class this year, our students had to learn how to make an app that automatically sends text messages to their friends. It took them about 15 minutes and about half the class (and a lot of giggling) to complete it. One of our students, who was a sophomore and very smart, said it was the most fun he had ever had in class. So we all agreed it was time to try and improve, and we set about it.

I am the type of person who will organize my entire home (including closets) based on what I need for vacation. Making sure that all vital supplies are in one place, even if it means putting them into a carry-on and checking out early from work so as not to miss any flights!
