After a discussion with several educators who work in higher education, they all shared similar feelings about how education should be a part of our lives, but not the center of it.
A lot of social scientists are pretty convinced that the “social change” (or lack thereof) should be about being more social, but the evidence is pretty overwhelming that the social changes are more about the culture’s desire for social change than the people they work with.
Some of us don’t even have the right to have our social life changed because of the way it is. It’s so wrong to have it changed, because it’s like when “the old man said that’s when you get older” is the way it is. It should be changed for the sake of change. If we had to change for the sake of change, then maybe we should change our way of life.
Education is a major factor in social change. If you want to learn, you need to learn how to learn. And if that means you have to learn something you dont want to learn, then its not education and there should be a better alternative. The better alternative is to learn how to learn.
We live in a society that values education. But I think we also have a problem with the way we teach ourselves. Too often we are taught by our teachers rather than ourselves. It’s like we think that we are not smart enough to be good at something. And when we are taught by our teachers, we think they are smarter than ourselves, so they are the better option.
The problem is when people can’t be trusted with our own knowledge, we don’t teach our children how to become self-sufficient learners. This then causes them to take on the role of educator themselves. This is not the case with children. We give them the role of a student and then they begin to act like a teacher. That’s not a good thing.
Education is one of the most important things we as humans can do. But I think it’s the role of children in our society to raise their own awareness of what it takes to make a difference. We should let them know that it is possible, and the best way to do that is to teach them to take on the role of an educator.
The best way to raise awareness about something is to teach them to take on the role of an educator. We want our kids to be responsible for themselves, and to be able to say “I’m going to take that initiative to do this”, and then to be able to have that initiative taken away from them. That way they learn to take on the role of an educator themselves.
It’s not just about teaching kids to take on the role of an educator. It’s also about letting them see that education is a positive thing, and that it’s something that they should take forward into adulthood. We can teach our kids self-awareness, but we can also teach them to take it to school. That’s what we’re doing in this video.
