The most common question asked by individuals looking to apply for special education is, “What do I need to know about the student before I can help them?” After a few minutes of scrolling through posts on the website, you will find a variety of people wanting to write to us about how they are trying to help their special needs students.
We do have an application process for our clients, and it’s a pretty simple process. Once you are approved it’s up to you to follow the instructions, but it’s worth noting that we don’t just send out letters and make phone calls. We have a team of consultants dedicated to helping every student we have a contract with.
This process is especially helpful for special needs students who have a lot of reading to do, or who have other needs that may not be in the best interest of their school. The letter is a good way to keep in touch with them and keep them on track, and the phone calls are great for getting them talking about their feelings.
You’d think that a letter from a student would be the least effective way to tell them that they’re being taken away, but we have a team of folks who are dedicated to helping all students we have a contract with. They’re very good at what they do, and they make certain that every student we have a contract with is given a thorough letter explaining why they’re being taken away.
We got a letter from a student who had a very specific reason for being taken away. What we found out was that they were taking all the students they could because they were upset about a situation they were in. The letter they received was very detailed about the situation they were in and why they were being taken away.
We were told that the reason the students were being taken away was because of a “complicated and highly emotional” situation. The letter explained that the students were upset because of a situation they were in with a teacher and their mother who were trying to have a child. We also found out that the teacher had been fired, and the students were upset because they were in the process of getting legal help.
We didn’t know how the case could go. We’ve been told that it could go out in the end and be closed down by the school council. It turned out that the school council would not hold the students to account. And then later learned that the student was not the only one being held to account.
Its the referral process for special education that I found most interesting. We do not know why the teacher was terminated, but we do know that its unclear that she was fired. I imagine the school council would not hold the students to account, but the case may have been filed in school council chambers.
The school council is a school governance body that the school district elects to serve as a liaison between the school district and central administration. It is also where the student’s rights are reviewed by the school council. The school council is usually comprised of elected school board members. Their job is to ensure that the district and the central administration keep tabs on the rights of the students. Its also where teachers and students are held accountable for their actions.
This is one of those times that I love to call in to the school board after school hours, but it’s a common occurrence at school. School board members often are concerned about the potential for the school to run afoul of regulations. Students who are at risk of being beaten up by teachers, being bullied by school bullies, and being forced to commit crime are all at risk.
