I would encourage you to read one, just this one. This video was hosted by a group of educators that teaches autism and other learning disorders. It was the best and most entertaining article I’ve seen during my life. I found it very fascinating, and made it part of my brain-soaring post-class.
Here as a child I was just another person, another student. I was never taught anything about autism or learning disorders, and I was never asked to participate in or be an educator in a special needs class. That changed one day when my school district had their Autism Awareness Week that included a huge poster campaign and education program. I was invited to participate. When I saw the poster, I was overwhelmed.
While I was participating in the autism-awareness poster campaign, I was also invited to an afternoon of educational autism-awareness presentations. The evening was a combination of autism talks and autism-awareness events. I ended up sitting in on many of the presentations. I really enjoyed the presentations, and got to see so many new things.

Autism Awareness Week is a week-long effort to raise awareness of autism, and as the name suggests, the week is focused on autism. Autism Awareness Week is a great way to get to know what autism is, the things you can do to help those with autism, and how much help is available. Even though there were two sessions on autism this week, one was about how to get kids with autism to school, and the other was about how to get adults to work with kids with autism.
A couple of years ago, a group of kids in a small town in the state of Kansas was just a few miles away from the local public school. They were having a huge party at a school that was offering a range of activities. Those folks were really excited about what they were doing and so their friends and family joined in.
As the kids started to work out what they were doing, they noticed a difference in their moods. They were more alert for the kids, they were more focused on the adults, and so they began to talk about the events. The kids got a lot of information about the events, so they began to take turns to get it out through people who knew them.
It’s interesting to think about those kids’ families having more than one member with autism and other kids with developmental delay. Autism is so common that most schools don’t even have an autism program. But these programs exist in some places where autism is more common. If you or someone you know has autism, you should talk to a school counselor or teacher about what events are for your child.
Even if you have an autistic child, it can still be hard to get your autistic child admitted to a special education program. That’s because there can be a number of reasons for a child to not be admitted to the program: they are not a good candidate, there is a financial reason, they have another disability, or they are too hard to handle. Many parents who have autistic children are faced with a conundrum. They have to decide whether or not to admit their child to special education.
There are many reasons for a child not being able to get into the special education program they are not a good candidate. Sometimes there is not even a financial reason. Sometimes there is a disability or another reason that makes a child not a good candidate.
