Iberian wedding? Yes, that’s what I say when I hear the word “wedding”. Waaayyyy before the actual wedding. I’m talking about my time with my wife. I’m talking about the time before she found out she was pregnant. I’m talking about the time before I knew I was a dad. The time before she learned I was a husband. The time before we got married.
Its been a long time since I’ve had a wedding. A long time since I’ve seen her put the ring on. A long time before we bought our house. A long time before we got married. A long time before her parents found out she was pregnant. A long time before my wedding dress was ruined. A long time before we got married. A long time before I had my first child. A long time before I was a dad. A long time before she was a mother.
It seems like forever ago that I was writing my husband “I love you” on my wedding cake.
And that, my friends, is exactly the point of a wedding. It’s not just a day full of good memories. It’s a day full of the best of life together. It’s a day that you say “I did it with you.” To me, that’s the big attraction of a wedding. And I think you can get there with the help of a little bit of planning. We want to say our vows.
Now, I have to admit, I have a lot of wedding photos that I love. But in the grand scheme of things, I really don’t think we’re even in the same ballpark as our wedding pictures. The only thing we have in common is having children.
