We partner with the largest employers in the local community (at least the ones that are large enough to hire a company like ours), helping them train and employ their employees. We’re not the only ones in this space.
I have to say that we do not focus on the education. We focus on helping as many people as possible get the education they need to be successful in todays world. For the most part, most people would be hard-pressed to argue that learning how to code is more important than learning about computers. And that is what we do. We help people learn how to code online so they can create a career in the information age. We also help people learn computer science as a career, because we believe computers will be the most important technology of the next few years.
So you have to be aware of a few things. First, coding is a fast paced, fluid field, and it will be hard for a young person to keep up with the pace. Second, coding is a tough field. You have to be smart, patient, and persistent in order to be successful. And these are skills that are hard to come by.
To be successful as a coding student it’s important to work hard, and in particular to maintain consistent motivation. This means taking a class every week, and doing well on tests in every class. It also means going to office hours a lot, even if your boss is your only source of motivation.
If this sounds like a lot of work, it is. But I think a lot of students who are successful in coding as a profession end up frustrated and unmotivated. They don’t really know what they’re doing, and they don’t have a mentor to tell them what to do.
The thing is, if you’re not a programmer, you can’t actually get help from your peers. They can only tell you how to do it, and they’re not actually going to do it for you. And they may not be very good at it. I think it’s very common for a lot of students to end up not knowing what to do.
I think that part of what prevents students from becoming successful in this profession is that youre not a programmer; youre a student. There are a lot of things that you should have learned by the time you graduate. But when youre not a programmer, you cant really learn anything new. You have a set of skills that youre more comfortable with, and you have more options. The things you use are what they are.
So if you want to be a success as a student, get into a company where you have options. I think that is the key to a lot of these other degrees. Most people go on to find that they dont like that degree and they do not like the companies that they are working for.
