I’ve been to Cuba three times now, and I’m still learning. The first time we went there was in 1994, and the second time I went there was in 2007. I’ve been to all the major tourist spots in Cuba, but this was my first time in Guáimaro. My friend and I were on our way to a friend’s house for the second time in this trip.

Cuban travel is all about getting away from the crowds. My friends house is located in a small town called Guáimaro, and the last time we were there, its location was a bit of a secret. Ive learned that the best way to get around is to use public transportation, and this time around, we decided to take the train.
The train was a little bit of a shock. This new generation of Cubans is much more likely to be using it for tourism, but it is not the most comfortable mode of transportation. As a result, we found ourselves riding in comfortable passenger seats that we could see out of, but the seats in the train were very small, and you would have to raise the entire seat to get into it.
The train is usually very quiet, but once you’re onboard you can hear the voices of Cubans in the back of the train telling jokes and stories. The food is mostly pretty good, and you can buy a ticket that allows you to sit in the front or back of the train. We don’t have any plans to return, so this was a good time to catch up with old friends in the US.
This trip was a bit different from other trips we’ve taken. This was because we weren’t traveling with each other. Instead we were traveling with Cubans on a trip that seemed like it would be a little more “international”. When you’re traveling with other Cubans, it’s almost like that time you were visiting your friend in another country.
This trip was definitely different. It was for education, to teach Cubans how to work for a better future. We were supposed to have the trip all to ourselves, but we decided to go together because it was our first time seeing the other country’s people. One of the other Cubans was in the US and wanted to come to cuba to see the city, so we all decided to come as a group and make it interesting.
There are a couple of things to do. For starters, you could take a tour of a little country called New Mexico. You could learn from some of the other Cubans. Then someone would ask you to take a few pictures and then make a tour of New Mexico. We were supposed to go to New Mexico because we were supposed to get some nice pictures and then we would go back to see old and new country. If you can make it to New Mexico, you can do it.
But that’s not the only thing to do. You can go to Cuba. We visited the country this year and found it pretty cool. There are tons of things to do there like go to the zoo, go to the beach, and go to the zoo at night. If you can do all those things, you can do all those things. But we weren’t able to save enough money to go to Cuba.
So we visited Cuba when we first got to the US in 2011. While we were there we did a couple things that were kinda cool. One was visiting the zoo and seeing giraffes in the zoo. The other was going to the beach. Of course you do that as much as you like. There is no shortage of things to see, do, and do not. We definitely would go back to see Cuba again.
