I think it’s the “right” way to think about the work of a teacher… I get frustrated about things because I don’t really know what to do with them.
If you’re a parent of a special education student, you already know what I’m talking about. I had a child with severe asthma for two years that was so sick it had to be wheeled to the hospital from day to day because her lungs were so inflamed they couldn’t handle the air around her.
The work of a special education teacher in the UK is a big part of the reason we have the special education system in the first place. And while special education is a huge issue in the US, its especially problematic in Britain. For many reasons, the work of a British special education teacher is far from adequate. In my daughter’s school, there are about 50 special education teachers, for a total of about 120 special education teachers in the UK.
In the US, there are even less of them. It’s one of the reasons that the US spends so much money in special education.
I’m assuming you know that some of these special education teachers are actually British. But it may not be as bad as it sounds. For starters, the British special education system is based on a lot of nonsense. I’m not so sure that the British special education system is the true story of this country.
British special education teachers are mostly the worst. They are overworked, overworked, overworked. So they might make a good example of. The teachers are in school full time, teaching, and they have no other purpose than to get their students to pass their classes. They only see the educational value of these classes and they push them for an ever-increasing amount of time. They teach in a way that is basically a chore rather than a learning experience.
The UK, Britain, and American special education authorities have long been the most restrictive and abusive of all the schools in America. Some of the schools have very strict rules of conduct, or very hard-working, rather than hard-working. There’s much more hard-working, more hard-working teachers in every state. If you’re a special-education teacher in the US, you’ve got to be tough.
This is part of a new report from the American Association of School Administrators that details how many special-ed teachers in America are being trained in ways that are essentially a chore. It’s a report that shows that while the general public doesn’t seem to have much of a problem with special-ed teachers, the American special-education community has been on a roll for many years.
As one teacher told the report, “we’re not in a position to criticize, but we’ve been doing this for years already.
With a focus on teacher training, the report gives a lot of credit to the National Center for Special Education, which also did a lot of excellent research on the subject. It also goes on to say that, while the public may not have a problem with a teacher that is a “dance instructor”, the “general public” seems to have a problem with teachers that are actually doing something other than just sitting at a desk.
